Tamil film industry is technically upgrading from past few years. Earlier, we saw Kamal Hassan making his Vishwaroopam in Auro 3D and setting a new standard in Indian films. Now, yet another development is set to happen which could take our films to the next level. Superstar Rajinikanth's Sivaji 3D adopted the sound technology - Dolby Atmos. And it is being followed by Vijay's Thalaivaa.
At present, there are five screens equipped with Dolby Atmos in the country. There are three Dolby Atmos screens in Chennai, two in Mumbai and one is being installed right now in Prasads at Hyderabad. Entertainment major SPI Cinemas would install Dolby Atmos sound systems in all its 37 screens in the next six months.
Sathyam Cinemas' six screens, Escape Cinemas' eight, Luxe's 10 screens (all at Chennai), two screens in Coimbatore, a screen S2 (Tiruvanmiyur) and two screens of S2 (Perambur) would also have Dolby Atmos.
However, apart from Thalaivaa, forthcoming movie Pizza 2 - The Villa will also adopt the technology.
