Vishwaroopam rocks at Box Office on day 1

Kamal Hassan starrer much-hyped Vishwaroopam finally released in Tamil Nadu on Thursday (February 7). The film was released in over 500 screens in the state and it has got massive response from the audience.

The early trade reports says that Vishwaroopam got the best opening of the year with Kamal Hassan fans giving incredible response for the Tamil movie. The film witnessed 100% occupancy in majority of single screens in Chennai, and multiplexes increased the number of screens to meet the demand.

Traders predict that Vishwaroopam is likely to set a new record at Tamil Box Office as the tickets for the next three days have been entirely sold out. The buzz says that the film has collected more than Rs 10 crore (gross) on the opening day. However, official confirmation on figures is yet to be out.

Earlier, Vishwaroopam was supposed to be released on January 11 but the film was postponed after theatre owners refused to screen over the DTH issue. Then, Kamal planned to release on January 25 but as the state government banned after several Muslim groups opposed the film claiming that it shows their community in bad taste, the release was pushed again.

Vishwaroopam is produced by Charu Hassan and directed by Kamal Hassan himself. The film, which also stars Pooja Kumar, Andrea Jeremiah and Rahul Bose in the key roles, is made with the budget of Rs 95 crore.
