The early trade reports says that Vishwaroopam got the
best opening of the year with Kamal Hassan fans giving incredible
response for the Tamil movie. The film witnessed 100% occupancy in
majority of single screens in Chennai, and multiplexes increased
the number of screens to meet the demand.
Traders predict that Vishwaroopam is likely to set a
new record at Tamil Box Office as the tickets for the next three
days have been entirely sold out. The buzz says that the film has
collected more than Rs 10 crore (gross) on the opening day.
However, official confirmation on figures is yet to be out.
Earlier, Vishwaroopam was supposed to be released on
January 11 but the film was postponed after theatre owners refused
to screen over the DTH issue. Then, Kamal planned to release on
January 25 but as the state government banned after several Muslim
groups opposed the film claiming that it shows their community in
bad taste, the release was pushed again.
Vishwaroopam is produced by Charu Hassan and directed
by Kamal Hassan himself. The film, which also stars Pooja Kumar,
Andrea Jeremiah and Rahul Bose in the key roles, is made with the
budget of Rs 95 crore.
