Can Vijay Fan Following Turn Into Vote?
Like Rajinikanth, Vijay too has a huge fan following and his meeting with Narendra Modi will have an impact on the votes.
Vijay's Political Associations
It is not the first time where Vijay had a meeting with politicians. Earlier, he had met Rahul Gandhi and the Congress had tried to woo him. But the back-door negotiations did not work and their meeting failed to yield any result.
Vijay's rivalry with the DMK family is well known. The actor, who shared a warm relationship with them, broke up with them over some issues several years ago.
This had created a lot of trouble for his films in the state where cinema and politics go hand-in-hand. Vijay had faced issues during the release of Kaavalan. This made him announce that he would enter poltics and float a new party.
Vijay Got Cosy With AIADMK
In the later months, Vijay mellowed down and decided to postpone his political plans. The actor was associated with the ruling AIADMK during last assembly elections and supported the Jayalalitha's party in order to seek revenge against the DMK.
Vijay Broke Up...
Vijay's political relationship with the AIADMK surprisingly soared after two years. His film Thalaivaa, like Kamal Hassan's Vishwaroopam, was banned in the state.
A bomb threat letter was received by some leading theatres in Tamil Nadu. This had made theatre owners boycott Thalaivaa.
The other side of the story was that there were pressure from some groups to remove the caption - Time to Lead - from the film. It is only after the removal, the film was allowed for screening. Vijay had a tough time in resolving the issue.
Now, Vijay is making his next poltitcal move. People are now curiously looking forward for his meeting with Narendra Modi.
