We had earlier informed that veteran director Bharathiraja's son Manoj will be donning the director's hat for the first time with a sequel to his father's 1978 classic thriller Sigappu Rojakkal which had Kamal Haasan and Sridevi in the lead.
Manoj, who gave up on his acting career to concentrate on
direction, worked as an assistant director under his father in
films like Bommalattam and then went on to work under
Shankar in his magnum opus Enthiran. Now, Sigappu Rojakkal 2 has already gone on floors with
a Hollywood trained actor reprising the role of Kamal Haasan in the
Visakan is an actor who is been trained under the influence of
famous Hollywood personalities and is expected to do justice to the
character originally portrayed by Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan. It is
still not clear if the movie is a sequel to the original or a
remake with capturing the authentic essence from the Kamal Haasan's
It is also said that Bharathiraja will be seen in an important
role in the movie and GV Prakash has been signed to take care of
the musical part of this alleged psycho-thriller. Other casting
including the female lead have not yet been finalized.
Meanwhile, Bharathiraja has begun work on his next film titled
Om in which he will be seen playing the lead protagonist.
The film will reportedly have Yuvan Shankar Raja as its music
composer. The movie is about a retired person who decides to spend
rest of his life with his children in America where he falls in
love with his neighbor.
