We had earlier informed that veteran director Bharathiraja's son Manoj will be donning the director's hat for the first time with a sequel to his father's 1978 classic thriller Sigappu Rojakkal which had Kamal Haasan and Sridevi in the lead.
Manoj, who gave up on his acting career to concentrate on direction, worked as an assistant director under his father in films like Bommalattam and then went on to work under Shankar in his magnum opus Enthiran. Now, Sigappu Rojakkal 2 has already gone on floors with a Hollywood trained actor reprising the role of Kamal Haasan in the prequel.
Visakan is an actor who is been trained under the influence of famous Hollywood personalities and is expected to do justice to the character originally portrayed by Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan. It is still not clear if the movie is a sequel to the original or a remake with capturing the authentic essence from the Kamal Haasan's movie.
It is also said that Bharathiraja will be seen in an important role in the movie and GV Prakash has been signed to take care of the musical part of this alleged psycho-thriller. Other casting including the female lead have not yet been finalized.
Meanwhile, Bharathiraja has begun work on his next film titled Om in which he will be seen playing the lead protagonist. The film will reportedly have Yuvan Shankar Raja as its music composer. The movie is about a retired person who decides to spend rest of his life with his children in America where he falls in love with his neighbor.
