Siddharth's Jigarthanda has performed well at the Box Office in the opening weekend. The Tamil movie has got overwhelming response in the domestic as well as international audience. The flick has done good business at the US Box Office and has made decent collections in Malaysia, UK and in a few other countries. And Dhanush's Velaiyilla Pattathari has continued its domination at some international circuits.
In the opening weekend, Jigarthanda has collected Rs.71.91 lakhs (117,746$) in the US. It was released in 20 screens. Its counterpart Sarabham has made Rs. 17,342 (284 $) in one screen. Apart from these new releases, Dhanush's Velaiyilla Pattathari, which was released on July 18, is still being played in three screens. So far, it has made Rs.1.36 crores in this region.
In the UK and Ireland Box Office, Jigarthanda was released in only two screens. It earned Rs.6.07 lakhs (5,907 £) in the first weekend. It is interesting to note that Velaiyilla Pattathari had a better occupancy even in the third week than the Siddharth and Lakshmi Menon starrer movie. The Dhanush's movie made (7,083 £) last weekend and its total collection from this part of the world is Rs.93.54 lakhs.
Jigarthanda was released in five screens in Australia and it earned Rs.12.86 lakhs (22,656 A$) in the first weekend. Dhanush's Velaiyilla Pattathari is running in two screens and it has made Rs.37.35 lakhs (22,656 A$) so far.
Malaysian Box Office
Velaiyilla Pattathari is being played in 13 screens and its total revenue from the Malaysian Box Office is Rs.2.14 crores.
Jigarthanda is being played in nine screens and its total collection is Rs.5.03 crores from this region.
Jigarthanda has done brilliant business in the domestic Box Office too. It has earned Rs.3.54 crores (nett) in the first weekend.
Jigarthanda has got good word-of-mouth and it is expected to make good business in the coming days.
