Kochadaiyaan (Kochadaiiyaan) Collections Racing Towards 50 Crore Mark At Box Office
Rajinikanth's star power at Box Office has worked once again with his Kochadaiiyaan getting the biggest opening at Box Office in 2014. With the film releasing in six languages, the combined collection of all languages is heading towards a record-breaking collection. Well, the multilingual film is racing towards the 50-crore mark at Box Office.
Kochadaiiyaan was released to a mammoth expectation on May 23. The movie was riding on mixed-talk from the trade and audience. Yet, the Rajinikanth starrer film managed to surpass the negative words around the film and win the audience heart. As a result, it has made wonderful business at collection centres.
The Tamil film has 42 crores (including six languages) in the first weekend. In India, the film has managed to collect more than Rs 25 crores. While the Tamil version expectedly has a lion's share, the Telugu version is okay with Hindi and other versions failing to pull audience to theatres.
The biggest benefit that Kochadaiiyaan is enjoying is the 'U' certificate from the Regional Censor Board. The film will be eligible for the 30% tax exemption. To Reach Half Century Tomorrow
Kochadaiiyaan is expected to reach Rs 50-crore mark today (May 27). It will be a sort of records for a Rajinikanth movie. His earlier film, Sivaji though released simultaneously in two languages, had managed to cross Rs 30 crores in the first five days.
International Circuits
Kochadaiiyaan has raked in Rs 15 crores from international circuits. It has been released in 10 foreign countries.
Working Factors
The working factors for the success of Kochadaiiyaan is the star power of Rajinikanth, who has been the driving force in pulling crowd to theatres. Other major factor is KS Ravikumar's screenplay.
Drawbacks
The drawback of Kochadaiiyaan is the poor animation quality. Deepika Padukone's role has also come under scanner.
US Box Office
In the US, Kochadaiiyaan has earned close to Rs 2.56 crores in the first weekend in 104 screens. But the Telugu version Vikramasimha has performed badly as it earned Rs 7.28 lakhs in 52 screens.
Canada Box Office
Kochadaiiyaan has got fantastic response in Canada as it raked in 32.61 lacs in 18 screens in the first weekend.
UK & Ireland Box Office
In the UK/Ireland Box Office, it has made 78.31 lakhs from 34 screens.
Australia Box Office
Kochadaiiyaan has made 64.73 lacs in 13 screens in Australia. It is the highest collection for a Tamil film in 2014.
Malaysia Box Office
Kochadaiiyaan has made stupendous business in Malaysia. The movie has earned 92.45 lacs in 29 screens. The Hindi version has earned 2.92 lacs.
85+ Occupancy
However, the occupancy for Kochadaiiyaan has been fantastic in Tamil Nadu and neighbouring state Karnataka. The occupancies for the first three days was about 85+ percent.
