Budding star Sivakarthikeyan could not have imagined that his movie would stand strong against some of the big movies screened on TVs for Pongal earlier this month. His Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam has garnered highest number of points and has won the battle for TRPs race on small screen.
Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam was screened on
Kalainagar TV on January 14 and it has got 12.29 TRP ratings. It
appeared like Tamil audience enjoyed watching a comedy movie the
most as it is in the numero uno position.
The Sivakarthikeyan's flick beat Vijay's Thalaivaa by a small margin. The Illayathalapathy's flick, which was screened on Sun TV, got 11.39 TRP ratings. Traders feel that Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam had a shorter run at theatres compared to Vijay's flick and many have not seen this film. Hence, this factor played a key role in getting the highest number of TRPs for this flick.
Murugadoss produced and Arya-Nayantara starrer movie Raja Rani
is in the third position as it fetched 7.36 TRP ratings on Vijay
TV. Sun TV's other movies Sundarapandian and
Kalkalappu got 7.22 and 6.92 TRP ratings,
Naveena Saraswathi Sabatham on Vijay TV and Vishal
Krishna's Pandia Nadu on Raj TV garnered 4.48 and 3.76
However, there were reports that Ajith Kumar's Arrambam would be screened during Pongal, but in the end, the those reports turned false.
