Tamil film industry has produced some renowned filmmakers in its close to 100 years history. Our directors have been recognised at national level as they have worked and tasted success in India's biggest film industry, Bollywood.

CV Sridhar and LV Prasad are credited to be the early filmmakers from Tamil to have got appreciation in Hindi films. The talents from here have not restricted themselves to Bollywood rather moved out of comfort zone and made it big. Here, we bring you the list of prominent directors from Kollywood, who entered Hindi films.

CV Sridhar

CV Sridhar

CV Sridhar had directed films in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi films. He had made his Bollywood debut in 1956 with Bhaai Bhaai. He had worked in more than 10 Hindi films.

Krishnan-Panju

Krishnan-Panju

Directors duo Krishnan-Panju directed above 50 movies of which eight movies where from Bollywood. They entered Hindi films with Bhabhi in 1957.

LV Prasad

LV Prasad

Multifaceted LV Prasad had forayed into Bollywood films in 60s. His first directorial Hindi movie was Miss Marry in 1957.

A Bhimsingh

A Bhimsingh

Multifaceted A Bhimsingh had worked as director, producer, editor and writer in Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam and Telugu films. His first Hindi movie was Aai Phirse Bahar in 1960.

P Bharathiraja

P Bharathiraja

P Bharathiraja made his Bollywood debut with Solva Sawan in 1979.

K Bhagyaraj

K Bhagyaraj

After making it big in Tamil films, K Bhagyaraj ventured into Bollywood with Aakhri Raaste, the remake of Bharathiraja's Oru Kaidhiyin Diary, in 1986.

Balu Mahendra

Balu Mahendra

Balu Mahendra was probably one director, who got success in all the film industries that he worked. He entered Bollywood with Sadma, which is remembered as a classic.

Gautham Menon ventured into Bollywood with Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, the remake of Minnale. The Bollywood flick was a hit. He also remade his Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa as Ekk Deewana Tha, which failed at Box Office.
