The trend faded away when personalities like MGR and Sivaji Ganesan took over the reigns in the mid 1950s and 60s. However, life is a cycle and what goes around must come around.

While such talented personalities have existed in Kollywood right throughout, it is most recently the trend has once again taken shape with many upcoming and established actors taking to singing.

Though most of them haven't yet proved that they can sing even classical numbers like professionals, they often choose their songs well in order to entertain their fans and movie goers alike.
