In
a
recent
interview
to
Behindwoods,
director
Jeethu
Joseph
who
has
helmed
Papanasam
has
opened
up
about
the
movie,
Kamal
Haasan
and
his
choice
of
casting
Gautami
as
the
female
lead.
On
being
asked
why
he
chose
to
cast
Gautami,
Jeethu
said
that
he
had
no
idea
of
casting
the
yesteryear
actress
as
he
didn't
know
that
Gautami
had
plans
of
making
a
comeback.
"We
had
shortlisted
5
names
for
the
female
lead
when
someone
said
that
Gautami
has
plans
of
a
comeback,
that's
when
I
realized
that
we
could
actually
cast
her
in
this
movie",
Jeethu
said.
When
asked
how
Kamal
reacted
to
it,
the
Drishyam
director
said,
"Kamal
Haasan
did
not
want
me
to
cast
Gautami
if
I
was
doing
it
just
because
she
is
his
off-screen
pair
too,
but
I
convinced
him
by
saying
she
would
actually
be
perfect
for
the
role".
Papanasam,
which
is
getting
ready
to
hit
the
theatres
soon,
will
be
Kamal
Haasan's
second
film
of
the
year
as
Kollywood
witnessed
Uttama
Villain
earlier
this
year.
