Rivalry between siblings might not be the oldest rivalry known to mankind but is definitely one of the most common, which cannot be avoided easily unless one doesn't have a brother or sister.
This being the case, Kollywood should be happy that some of the cool siblings known to Tamil cinema have always been supportive of each other despite sharing the same profession.
Kollywood has been blessed with such siblings right from the very beginning. To mention a few, the Travancore sisters(Padmini, Lalitha and Ragini) not only shared their profession but were also ready to extend their hands of support to each other whenever required.
For now, let us concentrate on the siblings of current generation who have made an impact in Kollywood and would certainly go on to hold their grip in the industry for years to come.
While some among them have shown similar interests to concentrate on one particular aspect of cinema, many of them have made names for themselves in different facets of filmmaking which is a healthy sign.
Take a look at the slides below to know about the current, cool siblings of Kollywood:
Though records might suggest that Kasthuri Raja directed Dhanush's first movie, Thulluvadho Ilamai, it was actually helmed by Selvaraghavan. Dhanush and Selva share a good rapport and it is also said that Dhanush often brings out his best in the movies directed by his brother.
Unlike Dhanush and Selvaraghavan, the Sivakumar brothers share a similar interest in cinema which is acting. Though Suriya has admitted that he used to bully his brother when they were young, they have a greater understanding between them now and both are leading heroes in Tamil cinema.
Jayam Ravi-Jayam Raja
As their names suggest, both men made their debut in Tamil through the movie Jayam. While Raja directed the film, Ravi made an impression in front of the camera. Apart from Jayam, Raja went on to cast his brother in four other movies and they are currently working on Thani Oruvan.
Shruti haasan-Akshara Haasan
Though Akshara is yet to make her Kollywood debut, one feels that it is just a matter of time before she does. Shruti had recently mentioned in her interview that Akshara is smart enough to find her way but if in case she needed her sister's support then she would get it instantly.
Aishwarya R Dhanush-Soundarya R Ashwin
While both of them are interested in directing movies, Soundarya's interest lies in directing animation and motion capture flicks whereas Aishwarya is focused on fabricating real, live cinema. Both of them have done fantastic jobs so far.
Venkat Prabhu-Premji Amaren
Venkat Prabhu has helmed 6 films so far and Premji has found himself a place in each of those movies and that explains the bonding between the two.
Kuralarasan will be making his debut as a music director through Simbu's upcoming movie Idhu Namma Aalu. If the movie works out as a whole, not only will Simbu have a chance to regain his lost market but his brother too will have an opportunity to grow as a music director in the industry.
While Arya is already an established actor in Kollywood, his brother Sathya, who is trying to find his feet is two movies old. He is currently working on three movies namely; Kadhal 2 Kalyanam, Ettuthikkum Madhayaanai and Chennai Singapore. If everything works out as per plans then Kollywood could see a lot of these two brothers in the near future.
Though they haven't featured in movies together(except for a special appearance), both of them are promising and upcoming actors with Jiiva already cementing his place as a star in Tamil cinema. Ramesh has acted in 15 films so far including a Telugu film.
