Box Office 2015: Top 20 Highest Grossing Tamil Movies Of The Year!

As 2015 is nearing its dusk, it is time for us to look back at this wonderful year, in terms of Tamil movies (Kollywood). First up, let's check out how Tamil films fared at the box office in 2015 and that's precisely why we bring to you the top 20 highest grossing movies of 2015 (top 10 in the slides).

Before we get to the actual purpose of this article, it is important for you to know that we will be publishing similar articles throughout this month (December). Also, the box office numbers mentioned are approximate and subjected to change.

Komban

Placed at the 20th position, Karthi's Komban did surprisingly well at the box office this year. The village based action entertainer has grossed 19 Crore rupees from all over the world.

36 Vayadhinile

There are only two woman-centric movies in this list of highest grossing movies and Jyothika's 36 Vayadhinile is one among them. The Chandramukhi actress struck gold on her comeback as this movie collected 20 Crores at the box office.

Romeo Juliet

The Jayam Ravi-Hansika starrer takes the 18th place as the rom-com collected 22 Crores at the box office, worldwide.

Vaalu

Simbu's Vaalu is placed right after Romeo Juliet. The movie which was released after a substantial delay collected 28 Crores.

10 Endrathukulla

Vikram's 10 Endrathukulla was made with a budget of 42 Crores (approx), but the movie collected a mere 35 Crores and was termed 'a disaster' at the box office.

Maari

Dhanush's Maari takes the 15th position as the film collected 38 Crores worldwide.

OK Kanmani

OK Kanmani turned out to become one of the most profitable films in 2015. This Mani Ratnam's flick collected a whopping 40 Crores.

Uttama Villain

Like 10 Endrathukulla, Uttama Villain couldn't collect enough at the box office that would've otherwise made the project a profitable one. It ended up amassing 45 Crores.

Maya

Nayantara's Maya was an extremely successful project. The horror-thriller collected 48 Crores.

Kaaki Sattai

By collecting 50 Crore rupees, Sivakarthikeyan's Kaaki Sattai grabs the 11th spot in this list.

Papanasam collected an impressive 57.83 Crore rupees at the box office, all over the world. An official remake of a Malayalam film, this Kamal Haasan starrer was directed by Jeethu Joseph and produced by Suresh Balaje, George Pius, Rajkumar Sethupathi and Sripriya.

Ilayathalapathy Vijay's Puli takes the 6th position. Though it collected 74.62 Crore rupees, the movie was termed as a flop at the box office as the budget of Puli was more than 100 Crores. It was jointly produced by Shibu Thameens and PT Selvakumar and directed by Chimbu Deven.

Jayam Ravi's Thani Oruvan is one among the most profitable flicks. It collected a massive 75.17 Crore rupees at the worldwide box office. Directed by M Raja, this action-thriller was produced by AGS Entertainment.

Yet again produced by AM Rathnam, Thala Ajith's Vedalam is the latest movie to have entered the elite 100 Crore club, thanks to its humongous opening. It collected a massive 119.22 Crore rupees.

Vikram's I tops the list of highest grossing Tamil films for the year 2015. Made with a budget of 110 Crores, this revenge drama gathered a whopping 203.29 Crores at the worldwide box office.
