When Ajith's Yennai Arindhaal teaser was released amidst huge expectations, the one minute video saw an overwhelming response from fans. The teaser which eventually ended up with an impressive 5.3 million views has been made to look humble by Ilayathalapathy Vijay's Puli teaser.
With a whopping 5.4 million views on YouTube, the 55 second video has beaten the milestone achieved by Yennai Arindhaal's teaser quite convincingly as Puli's teaser was released only two and a half weeks ago.
It has also managed to get more views than what Rajinikanth's Lingaa teaser had managed to achieve. With a meagre 20,405 likes and 4.3 million views, Superstar's teaser is languishing at the bottom when it comes to the battle of the teasers in Kollywood (top 4 positions).
With a colossal 11 million views and 48,238 likes, Vikram's I is placed at the top of the list and it looks like it will stay there for a very long period of time.
Having said that, Thala Ajith's Yennai Arindhaal teaser has the most number of likes (94,775). With 60,536 likes against its name, Puli is fast approaching Yennai Arindhaal's record and it might even surpass it by the time it finishes.

Vijay In Dhanush's Place!
Dhanush was initially set to play the lead in this fantasy film by Chimbu Deven and the movie was titled Maareesan. GV Prakash was signed to take care of the musical bit and even Vadivelu was a part of the project. However, the film was dropped as the producers(UTV Motion Pictures) were not comfortable with the escalating budget.
The Early Rumours
Although early reports suggested that A. R. Rahman would be the film's music composer, the team later confirmed Devi Sri Prasad had been signed. Natarajan Subramaniam chose to continue his work as a cinematographer with the film, despite his acting success in Sathuranga Vettai.
The team of Puli went on to pick five costume designers to take care of the clothing for the actors and actresses. Manish Malhotra, Deepali Noor, Chaitanya Rao, Siva and Sai were all brought on board.
Four stunt choreographers were selected to take care of the action scenes with international technicians Sang Lin and Pradit Seeluem, brought in to work alongside Sunil Rodrigues and Dilip Subbarayan.
The Special Effects
Makuta VFX were signed on to be in charge of the film's animations and special effects. Chimbu Deven subsequently worked on finalizing the script of the film between January and August 2014.
The team began filming on 10th of November 2014 at the Adityaram Studios on the East Coast Road, Chennai, where a song featuring Vijay and Hansika Motwani was shot in a set replicating a castle, put up by art director, Muthuraj.T.
