Ilayathalapathy Vijay's Puli is heading towards loss in North America. The box office performance of the film in both USA and Canada is reportedly below par, causing distress to ATMUS Entertainment, the company that distributed the film in the region.
According to a report from Behindwoods, Puli was expected to gross more than 6.48 Crore rupees in the whole of North America, but the fantasy movie is far from reaching anywhere close to those figures.
In Canada, the Vijay starrer has so far collected a meagre 60.21 Lakh rupees. At this rate the movie might end up grossing just 75 Lakhs, it is said.
When it comes to the United States, the place where Puli was expected to gross at least 3-4 Crores, it has so far managed to gather 1.21 Crores and is likely to end up with just 1.24 Crore rupees.
So, going by the guesstimate work done by trade pundits, Puli is likely to gather a total of 2 Crore rupees from Canada and United States combined, thereby falling short of at least 4.5 Crores.
It is being said that lots of dough was riding on the film's premiere shows, which was unexpectedly cancelled at the last moment. This very factor has added woes to the distributors.
