Thala 56: Vedhalam Is A Powerful Title, But How Powerful Is it?

So the 'V' sentiment continues and this time around it is Vedhalam for Thala Ajith. After successful ventures like Vaali, Villain, Varalaaru and Veeram, it should not surprise an Ajith fan when he/she is told that their favourite hero's upcoming movie is titled Vedhalam.

But of course, the surprise factor here is the meaning of the title, for it is pretty unconventional. 'Vedhalam' (a ghost that appears in the fictional tales of 'Vetala Panchavimshati') is often remembered as a mischievous spirit that loves to play tricks on others.

So is Ajith's character designed based on this ghastly attributes of 'Vedhalam'? Perhaps he plays an odious villain, who is hated by others, in the flashback sequences.

Having said that, 'Vedhalam' can also be remembered as an intelligent soul that fails to give up, no matter what. Considering, Ajith's off-screen image, many would say that it is in this context, Thala 56 has been titled Vedhalam.

But the first look poster indicates that Ajith might play a local ruffian in the movie, which should eventually turn out to be a treat to movie buffs.

After playing an out and out baddie in Mankatha and an extremely good person in Veeram, looks like Vedhalam is all set to showcase the good as well as the bad side of Thala Ajith.

First Look Poster

Apart from the impressive get up that includes a cool stud, an eye-catching chain, bracelets and bands of silver, the actor's intense look with an overlay of smile, has a story in itself.

The Outfit

A saffron colored Kurta with shoulder loop indicates that Ajith will be seen as a thug, ruling the streets of Kolkata (Kurta with shoulder loop is often worn in Kolkata).

A Powerful Title Indeed

Vedhalam is a powerful title because of two reasons. One, it has a mystical aura surrounding it and two, it can be categorized into something that cannot be destroyed.

Varam – a tough competitor?

It was reported that the title 'Varam' was also being considered as many thought 'Varam' would be the most appropriate title. But since Vedhalam has some sort of mystery attached to it, the team finally locked Vedhalam.

Guessing Games

Thanks to a mysterious title, Vedhalam has given rise to many guesses. Looks like the makers wanted to keep their audience guessing right from the word go.

The Release Date

Now the first look poster clearly mentions that the film is poised for a Diwali release. If there are no last minute hiccups, Vedhalam should hit the screen this November.
