There was a time when Tamil cinema fabricated back to back horror movies that would really spook the audience. But that trend is slowly on its way out, thanks to the origin of a new genre, horror-comedy.
While many horror-comedy movies are tasting success, it is also
making sure that quality horror movies are becoming a thing of the
past as far as Kollywood is concerned.
Good horror movies are still being watched and appreciated all
over the world and it is time Tamil directors and producers take a
note of it to come up with more out and out horror movies.
While movies like Yaar and Pathimoonam Number Veedu were made in the past, it has become
very difficult to spot such movies today as more often than not two
extreme genres join hands to make a horror movie, Pisasu and
Kanchana being good examples.

Kumar. A devastating evil spirit enters Mohan's body in an attempt
to destroy his family. Despite being a decent horror flick,
Uruvam tanked at the box office.
