For
an
actor,
regardless
of
his
reputation
or
experience,
it
definitely
would
be
in
his
dream
list
to
work
with
a
director
like
Mani
Ratnam
at
least
once.
This
fact,
can
hardly
be
denied
by
any
Indian
actor.
This
being
the
scenario,
imagine
a
newcomer
actually
rejecting
an
opportunity
to
work
in
a
Mani
Ratnam
movie
by
telling
the
famed
director
that
he
doesn't
want
to
act
in
his
movie.
That's
exactly
what
Prashanth
had
told
the
Roja
director
in
the
early
stages
of
his
career
as
an
actor,
after
being
auditioned
by
Mani
Ratnam
himself.
In
a
recent
interview,
Prashanth
took
a
stroll
down
the
memory
lane
only
to
shock
everyone
by
sharing
his
experience
when
he
first
met
Mani
Ratnam
after
being
called
for
a
screen
test.
He
said,
"I
had
done
only
a
few
films
when
I
got
a
call
from
a
director's
office
saying
that
they
wanted
to
do
a
screen
test.
The
audition
was
scheduled
at
seven
in
the
morning
and
I
reached
there
by
6:45."
Talking
about
how
he
failed
to
recognize
Mani
Ratnam,
he
continued,
"there
was
a
gentleman
sitting
in
a
corner
doing
his
own
stuff,
after
five
minutes,
I
walked
up
to
him
and
said,
I
have
my
shooting
scheduled
at
9
O'clock,
so
can
you
please
ask
the
director
to
get
started".
"The
man
shouted
some
name
and
a
person
walked
in
and
started
preparing
for
the
screen
test,
I
asked
him
who
the
man
was
only
to
be
informed
that
I
had
actually
spoken
to
Mani
Ratnam."
"During
the
screen
test,
I
was
given
a
cigarette
and
was
asked
to
smoke
while
performing.
I
told
Mr.
Ratnam
that
I
don't
smoke.
He
then
told
me
that
the
character
which
is
assigned
to
me
is
a
smoker
for
which
I
said
I
don't
need
that
character
then",
said
Prashanth.
