With Ajith's Yennai Arindhaal and Dhanush's Anegan releasing in two consecutive weeks, competition pertaining to the box office collections between these two movies is something that was expected. Apart from the collections in India, overseas box office collections of both these movies are being tracked with keen interest.
Let us have a look how these two movies have fared so far at some of the prominent overseas market.
In the Land of Liberty Anegan has collected $105,070 (₹65.36 lakh) from its opening weekend while Yennai Arindhaal has so far managed to amass $4 million which is about 26 crore rupees and has entered into the list of top 10 all time highest grosser for any Tamil film there.
In the United Kingdom Anegan managed to collect £40,084 (₹38.45 lakh) from its opening weekend and as of Thursday the total figures there stands at an impressive £68,841 (₹65 lakhs). Yennai Arindhaal too has done a decent job at the UK so far by collecting £156,949 (₹1.5 crores).
Tamil movies usually do well at the Malaysian box office. While the weekend collections of Anegan in Malaysia stands at US$ 283,099 (₹ 1.76 crores), the total collections of Yennai Arindhaal in Malaysia as of Feb 15th is estimated at a whopping $1,150,115 (₹ 7.17 crores).
Apart from these countries, Anegan has done well in Canada by collecting $3,359 (₹2.08 lakhs) from its opening weekend while Yennai Arindhaal has been declared a super hit at the Australian box office as it has collected a mammoth AU $186,103 (₹ 89.87 lakhs).
Yennai Arindhaal has managed to do well at the UAE box office as well by collecting AED1.6 million which is approximately ₹3.06 crores and it takes the number three position there only behind Vikram's I and Rajinikanth's Lingaa.
