We had earlier reported that Ilayathalapathy Vijay's latest release Theri had a thunderous opening at the box office in Tamil Nadu and many foreign centres. It had even broken many records set by some of the earlier blockbusters like Enthiran and I. Now, producer Kalaipuli S Thanu has confirmed the same, adding that Theri has even surpassed the opening collections of Thuppakki.
Thuppakki too, was bankrolled by Thanu. The producer couldn't have asked for anything more as the collections made by his latest release has surpassed the collections made by his earlier film featuring Vijay which too, was a blockbuster.
In his latest interview, Thanu has revealed some official box office numbers of Theri. Numbers that will make any producer happy.
"This is a historical victory. We can say this is the biggest in llayathalapathy Vijay's career. The film has collected that much. While we can call it a sure hit in Tamil Nadu, the film has stormed the overseas box office as well. I am running short of words to explain my happiness for the distributors who have released the film in overseas markets," he has said.
"Within two days the film had collected Rs 4.75 Crores. It has collected Rs 6.70 Crores in USA. We keep getting good news from all centers. Distributors and exhibitors are extremely happy," Thanu has said, according to a report from IndiaGlitz.
Though he is yet to divulge details about the overall box office figures of Theri, the buzz is that the Atlee directorial has already joined the 100 Crore club.
"#TheriJoins100crClub Wow Not just once it's the 3rd time Ilayathalapathy Movie hitting 100CR congrats to #Theri Team," Ram Muthuram Cinemas had posted on its official social media page.
