Radio Jockey and actor Balaji, who has worked in movies such as Naanum Rowdydhaan, Vaaya Moodi Pesavum, Yatchan and Vadacurry, has bagged a prominent role in Mani Ratnam's next directorial venture.
"And this did happen for real. Grew up watching his films n now to be part of a Maniratnam film. Feels like a dream," (sic) RJ Balaji posted on his official social media page, along with a picture of himself with the maverick director.
Well-known for playing lead actor's sidekick, RJ Balaji is said to be playing Karthi's friend in the movie. Karthi, who will be seen flying aircrafts in the film, was trained by professionals to make his act look authentic.
"Karthi is learning the basics of flying, which includes even simple things like how to be seated while in the pilot's seat. It will be a 2-3 weeks crash course and upon completion, the makers will finally take the film on the floors," a source from the film's unit had earlier said.
Principal shooting for the film will commence from Friday (8 July) in Ooty. Also starring Aditi Rao Hydari (in the pics below), who will be playing a doctor, the film has its music composed by 'Isaipuyal' AR Rahman.
Meanwhile, Karthi is also busy wrapping up work for his upcoming horror film, Kaashmora. Being directed by Gokul of Rowthiram and Idharkuthaney Aasaipattai Balakumara fame, the film also stars Nayantara, Sri Divya, Manisha Yadav and Vivekh in important roles.
Interestingly, Vivekh will be seen playing Karthi's father in the movie. Santhosh Narayanan has been roped in to compose tunes for Kaashmora.
For the 3D scan technology used in the film, Karthi's face was scanned at a studio here in Chennai. It is said that Kaashmora is the first Tamil film to have implemented the technology in India.
