Superstar Rajinikanth's upcoming Tamil gangster drama Kabali will release on July 1st, a source said.
"The film was earlier slated to release in June. It has now been pushed to July 1. The makers had actually planned to release the film on July 7 but have advanced the release to avoid a clash with Salman Khan's 'Sultan'," a source from the film's unit told IANS.
Directed by Pa Ranjith, Kabali is the story of the rise of a gangster from rags-to-riches.
The makers are currently busy with the post-production work and dubbing. Taiwanese actor Winston Chao joined the team in the city on Wednesday to dub his lines.
Winston Chao, who has worked with international superstars like Jackie Chan, will be seen playing the main antagonist in the much anticipated movie.
Also starring Radhika Apte, Dinesh, Kalaiarasan, Dhansikaa and Ritwika in prominent roles, the film is produced by 'Kalaipuli' S Thanu under his home banner V Creations.
While G Murali has spearheaded the cinematography, National Award winner Praveen KL has taken care of the editing. Santhosh Narayanan, who is a regular in Pa Ranjith's camp, has composed the tunes.
Though not officially confirmed, the audio launch of the movie might happen on 30th of this month. It is said that the audio launch of both Tamil and Telugu versions will happen on the same day.
Meanwhile, the teaser of the film has broken almost all records. The total number of views on YouTube now stands at a staggering 16.8 Million with 393K likes and just 12K dislikes.
Akshay Kumar, who seems to have watched the teaser recently, has expressed his interest to watch the film. According to a report, the Hindi star, who will be seen sharing screen space with Rajinikanth in 2.0, will watch the first day first show of Kabali.
