Actor

Tamil
comedy
Rajini
Murugan,
which
released
after
months
of
delay
on

last
week,
has
emerged
as
the
industry's
first
blockbuster
of
the
year.
"In
the
opening
weekend,
the
film
raked
in
over
Rs.20
crore
worldwide.
It's
the
biggest
opening
for
Sivakarthikeyan
in
his
career
so
far.
Despite
the
onslaught
of
the
three
other
big
releases,
'Rajini
Murugan'
emerged
successful," trade
analyst
Trinath
told
IANS.
Directed
by
Ponram,
the
film
also
stars
Keerthy
Suresh,
Soori,
Rajkiran
and
Samuthirakani
in
important
roles.
Despite
receiving
mixed
reviews,
Rajini
Murugan
was
lapped
up
by
the
masses.
"The
film
has
registered
fantastic
opening
everywhere,
especially
in
B
and
C
centres.
It
has
worked
extremely
well
with
the
masses
and
family
audiences,"
Trinath
said.
Meanwhile,
the
Varuthapadatha
Valibar
Sangam
actor
has
started
shooting
for
his
next
project,
tentatively
titled
as
'Nurse
Akka'.
To
be
directed
by
Bhagyaraj
Kannan,
the
film
features
Keerthy
Suresh
as
its
leading
lady.
Bankrolled
by
RD
Raja,
the
movie
will
be
captured
by
maverick
cinematographer
PC
