Ilayathalapathy
Vijay's
latest
release
Theri,
which
zoomed
past
the
100
Crore
mark
in
a
record
time
of
just
6
days,
continues
to
set
records
at
the
box
office,
even
after
25
days
of
theatrical
run.
The
film
directed
by
Atlee
and
produced
by
Kalaipuli
S
Thanu,
turned
out
to
become
a
blockbuster
in
just
few
days
from
its
release.
Not
surprisingly,
it
has
managed
to
hold
on
to
major
theatres
across
Tamil
Nadu
despite
the
release
of
Suriya's
24.
Of
course,
no
film
nowadays
stay
on
the
screen
for
25
days
without
churning
out
money
and
Theri
is
not
an
exception.
According
to
a
report,
the
Vijay
starrer
has
so
far
collected
a
whopping
9.6
Crore
rupees
(approx)
in
Chennai
alone.
In
the
whole
of
Tamil
Nadu,
the
film
is
said
to
have
crossed
the
box
office
figures
of
Vijay's
previous
blockbusters
such
as
Thuppakki
and
Kaththi.
For
any
film
to
overcome
the
overall
collections
made
by
Thuppakki
and
Kaththi
in
just
25
days,
it
needs
to
have
a
brilliant
run
at
the
box
office
and
that's
exactly
what
Theri
has
managed
to
achieve.
What
more,
it
is
also
said
that
the
emotional
cop-drama
has
surpassed
the
statewide
distributors' share
of
Rajinikanth's
Enthiran.
With
a
total
distributors'
share
of
55
Crore
rupees
in
Tamil
Nadu
alone,
Theri
has
dethroned
Enthiran,
which
so
far
held
the
record
for
highest
distributors'
share
in
Tamil
Nadu,
according
to
a
report.
Having
said
that,
Enthiran
was
released
in
the
year
2010
and
is
still
the
biggest
blockbuster
ever
produced
in
Tamil.
It
should
be
interesting
to
see
for
how
much
longer
does
Theri
manages
to
continue
its
dream
run
at
the
box
office.
Stay
tuned
for
further
updates.
