AR Rahman's son AR Ameen bags the Best Playback Singer award for crooning the song 'Maula Wa Sallim' from the film OK Kanmani. The song does not feature in the movie though.

Best Villain (Male) - Arvind Swamy

Thanks to his mesmerizing performance in Thani Oruvan, Arvind Swamy walks away with the Best Villain award. Thani Oruvan was directed by M Raja.

Best Villain (Female) - Asha Sharath

Malayalam actress Asha Sharath has won the Best Villain (Female) award for the movie Papanasam. Jeethu Joseph made his directorial debut in Tamil through Papanasam.

Best Comedian (Male) - Karunakaran

Karunakaran bags the Best Comedian award for his role in the movie Indru Netru Naalai. The movie was helmed by debutant director Ravikumar.

Best Comedian (Female) - 'Kovai' Sarala

'Kovai' Sarala won the Best Comedian (Female) award for her role in the movie Kanchana 2. Kanchana 2 was directed by Raghava Lawrence.

Best Music Director - AR Rahman

AR Rahman won the Best Music Director award for his magical tunes in the movie OK Kanmani. The film was directed by Mani Ratnam.
