M Karunanidhi Death: Kollywood Pays Tribute To ‘Kalaignar’

Veteran politician and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi passed away today (August 7, 2018), much to the shock of his followers. The DMK patriarch was admitted to a noted hospital in Chennai a few days after his health showed a decline. He showed signs of improvement initially, but his health deteriorated on Monday (August 6, 2018) and this led to his death. Interestingly, Karunanidhi was an integral part of the Tamil film industry as well. Before entering politics, he worked as a scriptwriter and gave the Tamil film industry some of its most memorable films. His Parasakthi, which featured Sivaji Ganesan in the lead, is regarded as one of the most controversial films of its times. It ran into trouble with a certain section of the society because it allegedly showed Brahmins in poor light. His subsequent films too dealt with sensitive issues such as widow re-marriage and untouchability.

Not surprisingly, his death left many Kollywood celebs heartbroken and they offered their condolences to his family members.

Thanking Karunanidhi for helping the children associated with his trust, Raghava Lawrence said that the legend's legacy would never die. He also offered his condolences to his family.

Vishal Has A Request For The Government

While paying tribute to ‘Kalaignar', actor Vishal called him an irreplaceable leader and requested the Tamil Nadu government to allot him burial space at the Marina beach.

'He Was A Great Leader'

Actress Galrani said that Karunanidhi's contribution towards the welfare of our society would never be forgotten. She referred to him as a ‘great leader' and added that his death marked the end of an era.

Anirudh Reacts To Karunanidhi's Death

Reacting to Karunanidhi's death, young music director and singer Anirudh Ravichander said that it marked the ‘end of an era'. The 3 music director also offered his condolences to the bereaved family.

Reacting to the death, Nan Ee actor Sudeep said that Karunanidhi was a great leader and added that he had done a lot for the betterment of Tamil Nadu. He also described him as one of the country's greatest leaders.

'End Of An Era'

Noted actress Trisha Krishnan shared an old photo in which she is seen with Karunanidhi and added that the Tamil film industry would miss him a lot.
