Terrific OTT Reach For Maamannan

Directed by Mari Selvaraj, Maamannan starring Vadivelu, Fahadh Faasil, Udhayanidhi Stalin, Keerthy Suresh and others is being celebrated with more joy after its release in Netflix OTT platform than when it was released in theatres.

The story was about an MLA in one of the western districts of Tamil Nadu being oppressed by the dominant caste and how the father and son are resisting it together.

Fahadh Faasil played the villain Rathnavelu in this film, where he pursues, protects and loves slavery with caste pride. The story painfully talks about the need to be free of caste discrimination, the violent mind of the ruling classes and the consequences of their hatred towards fellow human beings. Meanwhile, videos trending on Twitter where only parts of Rathnavelu were cut separately and interspersed with caste-glorifying songs.

Many people expressed their anguish on Twitter that the youth are celebrating caste pride in such a foolish way. They shared these Maamannan Rathnavelu re-edited videos by captionaing with the names of the particular caste. They also posted their religious views in it. The actions of the youth who formed such a foolish opinion and shared it caused pain and dissatisfaction.

All this aside, with such a problem on social media, Fahadh Faasil changed his Facebook cover photo yesterday, thinking that his perfomance is widely appreciated by many Tamil Nadu fans. Those cateist groups praised his post with caste pride. In this case, Fahadh Faasil deleted the Maamannan Rathnavelu character cover photo from his facebook page after knowing the real reason for being celebrated.
