Shivaji - Review... Contd.

Rajini Rocks!

Is it a Shankar film or Rajini film...? Surely it is a Rajini film with Shankar's craftsmanship! The superstar really steals the hearts of the viewers with every bit of his action. His new style and young looks rock the teenage audience. They applaud wildly for every scene in which Rajini appears, performing his magical styles.

One can better review the movie after watching the film with the fans in a theater instead of watching it in a preview theater with the so-called pseudo- intellectuals! After all, the purpose of the movie is to entertain the people for 3 continuous hours, and Shivaji has more than fulfilled this expectation of the movie-goers. It won't be an exaggeration to say that Rajini has more or less undone all the mistakes committed by Shankar in the script, through his virtuoso performance; whether it is a duet scene, or a dance oriented BGM, or a risky stunt, Rajini stands tall with his superb acting. Of course, one should give due credit to the director by bestowing the superstar with a new, fresh look.

It is truly a treat for every Rajini fan to watch the super star's dance movements in the 'Athiradee...' song. Shreya has performed her part well with her sizzling song-and-dance sequences, but beyond a point, it seems overdone. Vivek's comedy entertains the viewers, but in a few scenes he seems to be imitating the superstar as regards his dialogue delivery . It could have been avoided. Suman's character as a larger- than- life villain fails to attract the attention of the viewers. The director has failed to show him as somebody with a unique mannerism, like Raghuvaran in Mudhalvan. It is a pleasant surprise for the viewers to see Prof. Soloman Pappaiya in a hilarious role. Other characters have also performed their roles well.

On the technical side, K.V.Anand has excelled with his breathtaking shots with camera. And musician A.R.Rahman needs no introduction. He has come out with some of the best tunes in his career for the superstar.

There are few logical flaws in the script. But above all, the super star stands tall like a strong pillar and the movie will definitely be another milestone in his glittering career. The extraordinary rush seen on the very second day of the release after rave reviews by the media earlier, proves this!
