Prabhu
Deva
is
back
with
his
third
directorial
Tamil
film
Engeyum
Kadhal.
After
directing
action-oriented
movies
like
Pokkiri
and
Villu,
the
choreographer-turned-director
has
switched
to
romantic
flick
this
time
with
Jayam
Ravi
and
Hansika
Motwani
in
the
leads.
The
movie
was
started
with
the
name
Itch
before
it
was
rechristened
Engeyum
Kadhal.
Prabhu
Deva
had
initially
thought
of
casting
Shruti
Hassan
opposite
Jayam
Ravi.
There
were
speculations
that
the
director
approached
the
actress
to
play
the
female
lead
in
the
film.
It
also
claimed
that
she
liked
the
story
but
as
the
actress
was
busy
with
her
other
projects,
she
could
not
allocate
the
dates
hence,
she
turned
down
the
offer.
Later,
Hansika
Motwani,
who
had
become
popular
in
Telugu
and
Kannada
films
by
then,
was
roped
in
for
the
female
lead
character.
Engeyum
Kadhal
is
a
breezy
romantic
film,
which
is
mainly
set
in
France.
Jayam
Ravi
plays
the
role
of
a
happy-go-lucky
guy
and
Hansika
Motwani,
a
girl
who
believes
in
true
love.
Unlike
other
love
stories,
the
actor
will
not
fall
in
love.
It
is
the
female
lead,
who
likes
him
and
makes
him
understand,
what
love
is
all
about!
The
twists
and
turns
form
the
rest
of
the
story.
Coming
to
the
music
department,
Prabhu
Deva
and
musician
Harris
Jayaraj
started
musician
composition
works
in
Sydney
in
December
2009.
The
tunes
were
finalized
even
before
the
movie
launch.
But
the
audio
of
the
film
was
delayed
due
to
some
reasons.
The
music
album
was
released
on
November
08,
2010.
The
movie
has
eight
songs
for
which
Thamarai,
Vaali,
Madhan
Karky,
Na
Muthu
Kumar
and
other
have
penned
the
lyrics.
'Thee
illai...',
'Nangaai...
and
'Bathing
at
cannes...'
are
the
few
songs,
which
have
won
the
hearts
of
the
audience.
However,
Engeyum
Kadhal
has
received
clean
'U' certificate
from
the
Censor
Board.
The
movie
will
hit
the
screens
on
May
06,
2011.
