Director
Vijay
has
worked
with
stars
like
Ajith
Kumar,
Vikram,
Vijay
and
Arya.
He
made
commercial
movies
in
his
own
style
and
tasted
success.
But
unfortunately,
his
last
two
movies
(Thaandavam
and
Thalaivaa)
did
not
meet
the
audience
expectations.
His
decision
to
woo
mass
audience
made
him
compromise
on
what
he
believed
in.
The
director,
who
married
Amala
Paul
recently,
is
now
returning
with
his
latest
project
Saivam.
This
time,
Vijay
is
making
the
movie
without
any
star
cast.
He
wants
the
story
to
be
the
real
hero
and
has
chosen
actors
as
per
the
script's
needs.
Nassar,
Baby
Sara,
Luthfuden
Baasha,
Paul
Manoj,
Shanmugarajan,
Kausalya,
Kalyanai
Natarajan,
Shakti
and
others
are
in
the
cast.
Saivam
has
GV
Prakash
Kumar's
music
and
Nirvah
Shah's
editing
with
Anthony
taking
the
responsibility
of
editing
department.
Now,
let
us
see
what
the
movie
has
to
offer.
Story:
The
movie
promotes
vegetarianism.
The
opening
note
of
the
movie
says
that
the
film
is
dedicated
to
vegans.
So,
one
could
easily
expect
Saivam
to
have
a
message
on
it
and
the
director
conveys
it
without
any
exaggeration.
Hence,
even
those
who
consume
non-vegetarian
will
not
get
bored
or
get
irritated.
Kathersan
(Nassar),
is
a
respectable
man,
who
is
settled
in
a
village
with
his
son
and
granddaughter
Tamilselvi
(Sara).

The
other
members
of
the
film,
who
have
settled
in
other
places,
come
to
the
village
and
the
real
story
begins
from
here.
A
bad
omen
reminds
Kathersan
of
a
'Nerthikadan'
(a
practise
of
offering
god
something
if
their
wish
comes
true).
Three
years
before,
the
family
had
promised
the
local
deity
of
offering
an
animal
and
it
has
not
been
fulfilled
yet.
So,
they
believe
that
it
is
the
root
cause
of
all
problems.
Hence,
they
decided
to
offer
'Pappa',
a
rooster
nurtured
in
their
house,
to
the
God.
Rating:
3.5/5
But
Tamilselvi,
the
cynosure
of
all
eyes,
loves
'Pappa'
very
much
and
doesn't
like
the
rooster
to
be
killed.
The
little
girl
wants
to
save
it.
All
she
does
and
whether
she
succeeds
in
her
mission
form
the
crux
of
the
story.
Story
Analysis
Saivam
throws
light
on
our
family
value
system
and
also
tells
us
the
importance
of
being
compassionate
and
having
empathy
for
others.
The
characters
in
the
movie
also
show
the
attitude
of
urbanites
towards
their
rural
counterparts.
Not
to
forget,
Vijay
tells
you
that
village
kids
are
no
less
to
the
children
brought
up
in
cities.
Message
Vijay
successfully
conveys
that
offering
animals
to
Gods
will
not
solve
any
problem
and
he
encourages
audience
to
love
animals.
Performance
People
will
fall
in
love
with
Sara
again
after
Deiva
Thirumagal.
She
shines
like
a
moon
in
the
dark
sky.
Nassar
and
other
casts
have
done
complete
justice
to
their
roles.
In
the
end,
you
will
start
loving
each
and
every
character
in
the
movie.

Vijay's
screenplay
gets
full
marks
and
his
casting,
undoubtedly,
works
big
time
for
Saivam.
There
is
no
room
for
vulgarity,
fights
or
item
number
in
the
movie.
GV
Prakash's
music
and
Nirvah
Shah's
cinematography
are
top
notch.
Verdict:
Verdict:
Saivam
is
a
clean
and
well-made
family
entertainer.
It
won't
be
an
exaggeration
if
we
say
that
the
flick
as
the
best
movie
of
Vijay
till
date.
