Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Grand Finals : Mona's popularity wins over Shveta 's talent

Sony Entertainment Television's reality dance show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa came to a grand finale on 27th October 2006. This was the much awaited show by its ardent viewers who had an active role in judgimg the winner.By the end of the grand finale Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin fame Mona Singh added another feather to her cap, by winning the dance show. She pocketed Rs. 5 million with her partner Toby Fernades. She has won the competition against the earlier predictions of Shweta Slave's victory, who had higher points than Mona Singh through the judge's verdict.

Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa brought together celebrities from different dominions of life, where they coupled with professional dancers to perform their dancing talent on a highly competitive stage. Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa had eight well-known teams for performance at the beginning- Ajay Jadeja with Rea Krishnatraye, Sanjeev Kapoor with Nicole Alveres, Pooja Bedi with Hanif Hilal, Mona Singh with Tobby, Mahesh Manjrekar with Sonia Jaffer, Rati Agnihotri with Feroz Khan, Akashdeep Sehgal with Bindi Khare and Shweta Salve with Longinus.

Last year's Nach Balliye runner-ups Parmeet Sethi and Archana Puran Singh were anchoring Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. The panel of three judges consists of Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Farha Khan and Shilpa Shetty.The viewers were invited to vote for their favorite contestant duo and the voting pattern followed a 50:50 ratio for judges and audience. One celebrity pair with the lowest scores was eliminated each week. Through tough competition Mona Singh and Shweta Salve made their way to the finals.

The final celebrations of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa were started to telecast on Thursday (26 Oct, 2006) night. Mona Singh and Shweta Salve were so anxious and spent their time through prayers and talks to the public. The grand finale opened up with the finalists' unique performance. Later all the eight participant celebrities with their talented dance partners came to the Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa dance floor once again. As Sanjay Leela Bhansali aptly stated, it was like a reunion of the joint family. They once again put steps on the Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa floor for the last time.

The performance of Ajay Jadeja gained special acclaim from the judges. As a wonderful compliment to the celebrities as well as viewers Farha Khan and Shilpa Shetty put forward their brilliant performance on the Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa dance floor. Arshaad Wassi has given special appearance to add glitter to the grand finale of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. The result was out amid suspensing moments and Mona Singh was rocking the hearts of her viewers once again. Even during the awaiting moments one could clearly read out the result form the confident look on Mona's face and the hapless look on Shweta's face.

Given the fact that Mona Singh is not a trained dancer, she put up a really good show and worked really hard. Her performances were extremely powerful and full of energy. She added expressions to her performance. Mona was over the moon minutes after the SMS votes from audiences declared her winner. She has defeated Shveta, considered a far more superior dancer by most and declared the best dancer since Madhuri Dixit by judge Sanjay Leela Bhansali.She extended her heart felt thanks to Pooja Bedi who went out of her way to express her support for Mona.

Shveta Salve is truly heart broken after her lose of Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa trophy to Mona Singh. She believes that in these contests people don't vote for your abilities as much as your ability to connect with the audience. The results prove Mona connected better. And Shveta is really happy for Mona. However she has something else to credit her talent, since She has got open invitation into Bollywood movies by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Farha Khan. She extends her thanks to them for being appreciative of her real talent.

Many performers win due to audience votes whereas talent loses out in the final episode. The judges have to sit back with embarrassed smiles while the public overrules their best judgments. Now that Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa has come to an end with the popular defeating the talented Shveta, the viewers can sit back and wonder at the farce that what 'reality shows' really are.
