Cyrus is a squirrel who never stops talking: Mona Singh

Mona Singh
Mona Singh's Jassi avatar is gone and forgotten, while the anchor avatar is new and also a hit. Not only we, but even Mona agrees with this. She is happy for the fact that she is successful as an anchor and is liked by the audience. This 'very natural on-screen' lass is happy being her original self rather than consoling her family on-screen unlike many. We caught up with her to update all our readers about Mona Singh – the actress.

Q: How is your life going on?
A: Very good, and I am happy and content.

Q: Why did you leave 'Champion Chalbaaz'?
A: Firstly, there was nothing much for me to do there. As an anchor I feel I need to be lot more involved, which was not happening there. Also Sony is coming up with a new show with me. So the channel also thought that after 'Jhalak', I took up 'Champion Chalbaz' immediately and this was not a good move. Hence, it was another reason for me to back out.

Q: Would you throw some light on the new show you are talking about?
A: It is a reality show. A program for people who are the victims of near fatal accidents. We have a panel of doctors who are going to perform surgery on them. Basically, our aim is to give a makeover to the people who have had serious accidents. So, its not just the makeover for ordinary people.

Q: Are you also doing some other show, apart from this one?
A: These days I am only concentrating on my new show. I want to concentrate on one thing at a time instead of doing too many things at the same time.

Q: You seem to be more into anchoring, any specific reason?
A: Yes, because there is nothing much to do in acting now-a-days. And I don't want to play the role of bahu, who is just consoling everyone and is monotonous. I would rather not do that. I would just do anchoring and enjoy the show.

Q: But people do get recognition from these kinds of roles too, don't they?
A: I don't deny that they don't get. But I feel I have already got my share of recognition through 'Jassi'. It's just that I would not take up something which will not give me happiness.

Q: After Jassi, you are not seen in any serial, is it your deliberate decision?
A: Of course, it was. In fact, when 'Jassi' went off air, I got a lot of offers for serials. But it was just that I was never up to it. So I didn't take any. And I am sure now even people know my kind of work, so they don't call me.

Q: Once Cyrus had remarked," Mona has a better role on a channel meant for her -Animal Planet!" What do you want to say on this comment?
A: I would say nothing on this. I will just laugh and ask him which role would suit me.

Q: According to you which role does Cyrus fit in 'Animal Planet'?
A: I think he is a squirrel who never stops talking.

Q: It was heard that you were doing a movie. What happened to that?
A: Yes, I am acting in one, but talks are still going on. In this line unless everything is finalized you actually cannot say anything. It is a Bollywood movie, but till the time it is not confirmed I would prefer to zip my mouth.

Q: But when movies will happen, will you be saying bye-bye to the small screen permanently?
A: Not at all. When Shahrukh is back on TV, why should I quit TV?

Q: Was 'Jhalak' more fun than 'Champion Chaalbaz'?
A: Obviously, 'Jhalak' was better. This is why I left 'Champion Chalbaaz'. And recently I found a new avatar in me and that is of an anchor. I hate being formal, so 'Jhalak' was the one where I was completely natural. I used to actually freak out in the green room. Even I received so many messages and fan mails about the way I am hosting the show. I want people to remember me with these kinds of shows.
