I&B ministry issues show cause to Bigg Boss

The reality show Bigg Boss 3 hosted by Amitabh Bachchan is again in news for wrong reasons. The Information and Broadcasting ministry has sent a show cause notice to the producers of the show. This after Bollywood actress Shamita Shetty and Tanaaz Currim pulled down comedian Raju Srivastav's shorts in a yet to be telecast episode whose promotional clips have been flashed across many news channels.

The I&B ministry notice states that the content is obscene and it has offended the sensibilities of many viewers who watch the prime time show with their families. It also added that obsene visuals were provided to the news channels by the producer for wider publicity. This has violated Section 5 of the Network Act which states that no programme which offends good taste and decency or contains anything obscene can be transmitted/re-transmitted on any cable service.

The producers have been asked to reply witin five days failing which the I&B Ministry will take strict action against time. Colors which airs the programme defended itself by saying that have taken all measures to ensure that the programme is in compliance with the programme code. Recently, the ministry sent similar notices to the producers of Sach Ka Saamna, Pati Patni Aur Woh and Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao.
