Worldwide
Channels
is
going
to
launch
more
television
channels
in
India
as
they
have
been
able
to
identify
the
growing
market
here.
With
the
launch
of
new
channels,
BBC
wants
to
expand
the
reach
of
its
channels
in
this
country,
according
to
a
senior
official.
On
Thursday,
Darren
Childs,
MD,
BBC
Worldwide
Channels,
said,
“We
have
been
able
to
recognize
the
growing
market
in
India,
so
we
will
invest
substantially
here
to
offer
quality
content
and
increase
distribution".
At
present,
BBC
Worldwide
Channels
controls
an
international
network
of
41
channels
while
reaching
326
million
homes.
Apart
from
BBC
Entertainment,
BBC
World
News
and
CBeebies,
BBC
Worldwide
also
operated
a
television
production
business
here
in
Mumbai.
The
three
seasons
of
'Dancing
with
the
Stars",
'Desi
Girl",
and
'Baby
Borrowers" are
its
productions.
According
to
Mr
Childs,
in
the
coming
five
years,
the
pay
television
market
in
India
is
going
to
grow
hugely
thus
making
it
an
important
market
for
the
company
in
future.
He
added
that
by
the
year
end,
it
will
re-launch
the
BBC
Entertainment
and
will
have
an
extended
distribution
for
its
channels.
Childs
added,
“At
an
appropriate
time,
we
will
also
launch
some
other
channels
like
BBC
Lifestyle
and
BBC
Knowledge
in
India".
