Govt bans FTV for telecasting topless women

Government of India has banned Fashion Television(FTV) for 10 days from March 12-21. On Thursday The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting banned the channel for showing topless women by “Violating Cable Televison Regulations Act .

FTV telecasted a show on September 4, 2009 at 15:37:34 hours and 19:01:48 hours showing women with nude upper body. "The visuals were found to be obscene, denigrating women and were not suitable for children and unrestricted public exhibition," the statement read.

This is the second time that Fashion Television has been banned. FTV was first banned in 2007 for telecasting 'Midnight Hot' showing skimpily dressed and semi-naked models. Later the ban was revoked after the channel assured that such a thing will not be repeated.
