The
Film
and
Television
Institute
of
India
organized
a
seminar
on
'New
Trends
in
Television
Programming
and
Broadcasting" recently.
The
experts
present
at
the
seminar
said
that
the
content
of
the
television
channels
have
failed
to
match
the
developing
technology
like
mobile
interactivity.
According
to
the
experts,
Indian
television
industry
is
soon
going
to
be
all
about
mobile
interactivity
and
high
definition.
However,
the
quality
content
is
still
missing
from
the
television
programming.
But
the
reason
behind
this
lack
in
quality
is
not
ascertained
yet.
Is
it
because
audiences
are
not
fussy
about
what
they
are
watching
or
is
it
for
lack
of
advertisers?
As
at
the
end
of
the
day,
only
TRP
matters,
they
are
also
continuing
with
this.
Speaking
about
the
latest
technology,
Isao
Matsufune,
who
represented
a
multinational,
said,
“In
the
West,
high
definition
camera
is
already
a
rage.
Such
equipments
have
got
buyers
in
India
also
but
it
will
take
some
more
time
to
pick
up".
M.
Kasim,
who
is
from
the
A.
J.
Kidwai
Mass
Communication
Research
Centre
of
Jamia
Millia
Islamia
University
in
Delhi,
said,
“In
near
future,
we
can
also
watch
the
television
content
on
the
mobile
phones".
Kasim
added,
“Mobile
broadcasting
has
a
good
scope
to
pick
up
in
India
as
there
is
no
lack
of
content
in
this
media.
But
no
government
norms
exist
now
to
regulate
the
content.
The
government
has
been
asked
by
the
Telecom
Regulatory
Authority
of
India
(TRAI)
to
take
up
the
job
but
any
standardization
or
regulation
is
not
visible
yet".
A
broadcasting
engineer
at
Doordarshan
named
C.
K.
Jain,
stated,
“We
and
other
television
channels
are
trying
to
make
content
for
HD
technology.
Our
channel
is
going
to
launch
a
free
channel
on
our
direct-to-home
service
in
next
month.
We
want
people
to
take
benefit
from
HD
without
spending
extra
money
while
installing
or
reinstalling
the
set-top
boxes
to
get
the
HD
content".
