Sara Khan in Ekta Kapoor's DDLJ TV remake

Ekta Kapoor will remake the super blockbuster hit Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995) into a TV soap opera. The serial, tentatively titled Diya Mann will have Sara Khan play the lead role of Raavee, loosely based on Kajol’s character in Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge.

Ekta Kapoor is riding high these days. After her recent big screen success (The Dirty Picture), and with her serials Bade Acche Lagte Hain and Kyaa Hua Tera Vaada fetching good TRP's, Ekta Kapoor has decided to remake Shharukh Khan-Kajol starrer Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge into a TV serial for Zee.

Though the plot will have an NRI family returning to India, there will be changes in the script of the serial to retain the interest of Television goers. Many shots for the serial will be shot in Punjab. Unlike Kajol in DDLJ, Sara Khan's character apparently will be an adopted child by an NRI family.

Sara Khan, who will play the role of Ravvee in the serial confirmed that she will be doing the Balaji serial. As per a leading newspaper, the serial is expected to go on air in April and is likely to replace Ram Milaayi Jodi (aired at 9:30 PM) or Choti Bahu (aired at 7:30 PM).
