Indian Idol Winner Sandeep Acharya Passes Away Due To Jaundice

Sandeep Acharya, 29, second season Indian Idol winner, passes away due to jaundice on Sunday at a Gurgaon hospital. He is survived by his wife and a one-month-old daughter.

The talented singer was suffering from jaundice over a fortnight, but had neglected treatment. He was admitted to a local hospital in Bikaner, his hometown, in a critical condition and when his health did not improve he was taken to Gurgaon where he breathed his last at 9 am, Sunday, 15th December, 2013. His last rights will be performed in Bikaner.

Born on February 4, 1984, he was a science graduate and the youngest in the family of two sisters and a brother. After Indian Idol success, Acharya had participated in TV show Jalwa Four 2 Ka 1. Sandeep had also won the Best Bollywood Talent award at an event in New Jersey in the US.

Sandeep's younger brother was quoted by a leading daily, saying, "Last night, doctors said his condition was under control and he was showing signs of recovery. We were all hoping we'd soon take him home. But nobody knew that he would leave us forever."

Singers Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal expressed grief over Sandeep's untimely death.
