Details
of
Yudh,
Amitabh
Bachchan's
debut
fiction
TV
show,
have
been
kept
safely
guarded
from
the
media
for
a
long
while
now.
But
some
sources
have
spilt
the
beans
about
a
key
concept
that
the
show
will
be
portraying
-
lesbianism.
Actresses
Mona
Vasu
and
Rishina
Kandhari
will
be
essaying
the
roles
of
the
two
women
in
love.
"There
will
be
a
lesbian
relationship
shown
between
Mona
Vasu's
and
Rishina
Kandhari's
characters
in
one
of
the
tracks
on
Yudh.
It
will
so
happen
that
a
bridge
constructed
by
Bachchan's
construction
company
will
collapse,
and
Mona,
who
plays
his
secretary,
would
want
to
find
out
the
truth," sources
confirmed.
The
sources
also
added,
that
"In
the
quest
for
truth,
she
will
encounter
Rishina's
character,
who
is
a
news
channel
reporter.
Rishina's
character
will
confesses
her
liking
for
Mona's
character
(also
named
Mona),
who
will
be
shown
as
an
opportunistic
woman
who
can
use
situations
to
her
advantage."
It
is
said
that
'Yudh' will
have
subtle
references
to
lesbianism
through
gestures
and
that
the
content
won't
be
anything
explicit
that
could
irk
the
viewers.
Mona
and
Rishina
were
unavailable
for
comment
due
to
a
non-disclosure
agreement.
This
has
not
been
the
first
portrayal
of
homosexuality
on
Indian
TV.
Serials
like
Star
TV's
Vivian
Dsena
starrer
Pyaar
Kii
Ye
Ek
Kahaani,
Maryada,
and
Sony's
Mahi
Way,
have
featured
gayhood.
However,it
will
be
the
first
depiction
of
lesbianism
on
Indian
telly.
While
Miilee
actress
Mona
Vasu
has
certainly
been
known
over
the
years,
as
much
for
her
bold
avatars
as
much
as
her
homely
on-screen
portrayals,
Rishina
has
only
been
seen
in
non-glamourous
roles,
such
as
Princess
Khyati
of
Devon
Ke
Dev
Mahadev.
It
will
be
interesting
to
see
the
two
ladies
in
this
challenging
role.
'Yudh'
also
starring
Bollywood
actress
Sarika,
Kay
Kay
Menon
and
Nawazuddin
Siddiqui,
is
directed
by
Anurag
Kashyap
and
is
expected
to
go
on
air
in
July.
