The hit series Jodha Akbar may be in the news for all the wrong reasons but one thing which stands out is Akbar’s outstanding acting! Rajat Tokas playing the role of Akbar in the serial turns 23 years old tomorrow! On the eve of his 23rd birthday, let us know some unknown facts about this young, stylish and talented actor.

Rajat, a Delhi boy started his career in acting at the age of 15 in the show ‘Dharti Ka Veer Yodha Prithviraj Chauhan’. He received rave reviews and there began his stint in acting! He followed this with a role of Sai Baba’s brother Tantya which was also appreciated. Rajat has been seen in many more serials; ‘Sai Baba’, ‘Dharamveer’ and ‘Tere Liye’ but it was ‘Jodha Akbar’ which has really given him that much needed acclaim! Rajat has also been seen in few films like ‘Stumped’, ‘Prerna’, ‘W.H.O’ and ‘Kathputali’ to name a few, which didn’t work in his favour. Surprisingly his first choice was direction and not acting!

Even after so many years in the telly industry, Rajat is an introvert and still shies away from talking to girls. He declares that he is a loner and doesn’t have many friends. This soft-spoken lad is an outdoor person and loves swimming, horse-riding and playing football. The lad who makes the women weak in the knees, Rajat swears by Chinese food and hates continental cuisine. Paris and Goa are Rajat’s destinations he has in his ‘to-explore’ list.

Rajat Tokas is a huge fan of Hrithik Roshan, Amitabh Bachchan, Kajol and Rani Mukherjee. He confesses that he could never see himself acting in a ‘Saas-Bahu’ saga. This Cancerian is committed to fiancée and theatre artiste Shrishti Nayyar. The 5’6’’ height actor studied in Delhi through correspondence as he found it tough balancing his career and studies simultaneously.

Taking up the role of the famous Mughal emperor Akbar is no mean feat! Birthday boy Rajat Tokas has strived to learn the art of sword-fighting and horse riding to make his body language in ‘Prithviraj Chauhan’ and ‘Jodha Akbar’ seem more realisitic!
