So, the season of Big Boss ended; leaving audiences for more! Didn’t it create a lot of hype? Well, that is the kind of impact reality shows leave on us! While every day, people look forward to their daily dose of serials, reality shows make their entry for a short period of time and entertain the viewers. So, which types of shows do the audience prefer- reality shows or daily fiction serials?
Since long, the daily ‘Saas-Bahu’ sagas rule the roost with people leaving all their household chores to settle down and view their favourite serials. That remains true till today with people loving their daily soaps and do not wish to miss even one episode! If at all they miss it they try to get to know about it through their friends who regularly watch them too! Nowadays, daily soaps have brought about unconventional concepts and scripts including crime, thrillers and soft romantic and dramatic serials too. They cater to different types of audiences and some really good ones strike a chord with their audience too. The TRPs are witness to the winner choices of the audience.
While daily soaps are running successfully, reality shows like ‘Big Boss’, ‘Jhalak Dikhla Jaa’, ‘Dance India Dance’, ‘Nach Baliye’ and ‘India’s Got Talent’ have made their presence felt for say 4-5 months but have not left any stone unturned in entertaining the audiences. Be it ‘Big Boss 7’’s controversial exits or ’Jhalak Dikhla Jaa’s contestants getting perfect scores, reality TV is here to stay! The production houses cash in on TRPs by bringing popular faces to such reality shows.
Accept it; one cannot imagine your daily schedule without your daily dose of favourite serials. Reality shows also, in its short stint, does attract the audience. In both cases, the production houses add a ‘twist’, whether a time leap or a murder or a new entry in serials or in case of reality shows, the very famous ‘Wild card entries’. All said and done, both reality shows and daily serials have their share of ‘Masala’ which adds spice to your life!
