Colors TV's controversial reality show, Bigg Boss has always been in news every season, especially, regarding the amount that the contestants/host get paid.
Previously, the host of Bigg Boss 9, Salman Khan was in news for being paid more. It was said that Salman had increased his fees to Rs 7-8 Crores (estimated amount). But when Salman was asked about his pay, he had told to the reporters, "I have no interest in your salary then why do you have interest in my salary?"
Coming to the contestants' fees, last year (Bigg Boss 8), Karishma Tanna was the highest paid celebrity, while in Bigg Boss 7, Tanisha Mukherjee got highest weekly fee.
The contestants this season are being paid on weekly basis. And this payment depends on the celebrity contestant's popularity.
According to DNA report, the pay has been categorised: Bottom Level, Mid-Level and Top Level. Apart from these there is something called special fees. (Read the payment details in the slides)
It has to be noted that the contestants are entitled to these fees only until they survive on the show.
According to latest reports, Rimi is being paid a whooping amount of Rs 2 Crores (signing amount), which is more than what the winner is entitled to get. What we do not know is, on what basis she is being paid such huge amount?
Let us remind you another contract of Bigg Boss 9 - It is said that if any contestant wishes to leave show in the middle, he or she will have to pay Rs 5 Crores as the fine. Is this the reason why Rimi is still crying, yet surviving in the Bigg Boss house? Or is she so popular in Bigg Boss house than in Bollywood that she is being voted to stay at the house?
Among the 14 contestants, who entered the show, the least popular contestant or celebrity come under this category. These contestants get the minimum weekly fee that is estimated to be around Rs 3 Lakhs. We believe Arvind Vegda, who got eliminated in the second week, belonged to this category.
These are the contestants who are pretty famous and their payment is slightly more than bottom level contestants. These contestants are estimated to be paid around Rs 4 lakhs. We feel, Ankit Gera, Roopal Tyagi, Yuvika Chaudhary, Vikas Bhalla, who were eliminated recently belonged to this group as people knew them, but they are not as famous as top level people. We also feel Rochelle Rao and Digangana Suryavanshi among the survived contestants belong to this group.
Top Level are mostly paid more, as they are most famous and believed to bring more TRPs to the show. These contestants charge a high fee, around Rs 5 Lakhs per week! We believe, Prince Narula, Suyyash Rai, Kishwer Merchant, Aman Verma, Mandana Karimi belong to this group, as they are the ones who are creating the dramas in the show to make it interesting.
Special Fees & Prize Money
Note that there is something called special fees, which would be paid to the contestants who promise to/create high drama in the show. Along with the weekly/special fees, the winner will get the prize money (Rs 40 lakh).
Rimi Paid The Highest!
Recent reports suggest that Rimi is paid a whopping amount of Rs 2 Crores, which is more than the winning amount. We all have seen Rimi not participating in any task and is inactive in the house.
Bigg Boss had announced, ‘Shararati Bachen' task which was a luxury budget task. This task had direct effect on nominations, and Rimi didn't participate in it.
Rimi Sen In Bigg Boss 9
In this task, Rimi was made the supervisor of the task, but never bothered to do it. All she did was watching the contestants play, sitting in a corner. At the end of the task (which will happen today, 38th Day), Bigg Boss asks Rimi to nominate one contestant and she names herself, but again Bigg Boss doesn't consider this. It is then, Rimi names Mandana Karimi, the worst performer of the task, who would get eliminated based on the Bigg Boss' order.
