Saeed Jaffrey was an Indian-born British actor, who appeared on radio, stage, television and films. The actor breathed his last on 15th November; he was 86. The actor was suffering from age-related ailments.

He started his career in Delhi, in the mid-50s with All-India Radio. Apart from movies and plays, Saeed starred in television show - Gangsters (1975-1978), The Jewel in the Crown (1984), Tandoori Nights (1985-1987) and Little Napoleons (1994).

The actor also appeared in Minder as Mr Mukerjee in Series 1 episode The Bengal Tiger, and on Coronation Street as Ravi Desai.

Saeed is one of the few actors who found fame and success in both India and the West. He has done numerous British, American and Indian movies. He was considered Britain's highest-profile Asian actor, during 1980s and 1990s. The Man Who Would Be King, Shatranj Ke Khiladi and Gandhis are some of the movies in his credit lists.

The actor was married to Madhur Jaffrey, who is an Indian-born actress, food & travel writer, and television personality, but later parted ways in 1966.

The news of his death was announced by his niece Shaheen Agarwal, who wrote on Facebook, "Today, a generation of Jaffreys has passed away. Saeed Jaffrey has joined his brothers and sister and is rejoicing in the lap of his Heavenly Father, eternally."
