A source from CritiCare Multispeciality Hospital and Research Centre in Andheri East was quoted by IANS as saying, "She was at our hospital for a couple of days. She died early morning today."
Few reports suggest that age-related illness was the reason for her death. At a crematorium in Oshiwara, the senior actor's last rites will be performed around 3 pm.
In 2013, the veteran actress was admitted to hospital as she suffered stroke. She was kept in the ICU, but later she regained her health and got well.
Hiten Tejwani, who played the role of Karan Mihir Virani in Kyonki Saans Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, took to twitter to express his grief over the death off Baa aka Sudha Shivpuri. He tweeted, "Sad news..Baa passed away..may her soul rest in peace ..#RIP Baa."
Ekta's close friend and Film Writer Mushtaq Shiekh tweeted, "Mrs Sudha Shivpuri (wife of Om Shivpuri) also popularly known as Baa in Kyun Ki passed away this morning. May her soul rest in peace. #RIP." He further wrote, "Sudha Shivpuri popularly known as Baa from KyunKi passed away this morning. Funeral at Oshiwara Crematorium 2.30 pm today. #RIP."
Alok Nath, who is well known as 'Babuji' of the entertainment industry tweeted, "Rest in eternal peace Sudha Shivpuri maam.You and Om Shivpuri sir were teacher's&guides of great proportion.am blessed to be your student."
Actress Dolly Bindra tweeted, "RIP Sudha Shivpuri A great Theatre, TV & Film Actress."
