The
veteran
actor,
who
got
popular
with
Ganpat
Hawaldar
with
DD's
Nukkad,
was
suffering
from
diabetes
and
throat
cancer
from
long
time.
The
actor
passed
away
on
Friday
(27
February),
around
1
pm.
He
was
under
treatment
at
Nanavati
hospital
in
Mumbai.
When
Ajay
was
facing
a
financial
crisis,
Bollywood's
comedian-actor
Johnny
Lever
had
lent
him
his
support.
Along
with
his
friend
Suresh
Bhagwat,
Shiv
Sena
had
also
donated
some
money
for
his
treatment.
Though
the
actor
was
seen
in
famous
movies
and
serial,
he
didn't
have
any
assignments
after
Pavitra
Rishta
and
failed
to
manage
his
career
and
finances.
Usha
Nadkarni,
who
was
seen
opposite
Ajay
in
Pavitra
Rishta
confirmed
the
news.
She
was
quoted
by
TOI
as
saying,
"Yes,
I
got
the
news
today.
He
was
not
keeping
well
since
quite
some
time.
When
we
shot
for
the
last
episode
of
Pavitra
Rishta,
I
enquired
about
him
and
got
to
know
that
he
was
unwell.
Since
then
I
was
in
constant
touch
with
him
and
his
family.
But
I
got
busy
lately
due
to
the
outdoor
shoots
and
today
I
got
this
news
that
he
is
no
more."

actor
was
last
seen
in
Zee
TV's
Pavitra
Rishta,
where
he
was
seen
playing
the
role
of
Sushant
Singh
Rajput's
(Manav)
baba
(Damodar
Rao
Deshmukh)
in
the
serial.
He
was
also
seen
in
films
like
Phir
Bhi
Dil
Hai
Hindustani,
Yes
Boss
and
English
Babu
Desi
Mem.
