Helly hails from a Gujarati family. She began her acting career when she was in the 8th grade. Her first show was Gulaal in which she played the role of Talli. The show which was aired on Star Plus, also starred Manasi Parekh Gohil and Neil Bhatt.

Later, the actress did a series of shows. On Life OK's Alaxmi - Humari Super Bahu, she played the title role (Alaxmi / Laxmi Kishan Kapadia). Her third show was on Zee TV - Khelti Hai Zindagi Aankh Micholi and fourth was on Sony Pal - Khushiyon Kii Gullak Aashi. In the former, Helly played the role of Ami Harsh Joshipura; while in the latter, the actress played the role of Aashi Vishesh Dubey.

Helly aka Swara became the household name with the Colors show, Swaragini. About her role in Swaragini, Helly was quoted by IANS as saying, "Swara is very similar to what I am in real life. The only difference is I am Gujarati and she is Bengali. Swara as Bengali is a non-vegetarian eating person, but in real life I am a vegetarian."

The actress also shared her experience of holding a fish, during the shooting. She was quoted by IANS as saying, "I never thought I will hold fish in my hand, but I did. It was very scary and was like a nightmare, but I did it for one of the opening sequences."

Helly's pairing with Varun Kapoor, who plays the role of Sanskar, is loved by the audiences. Their fans have named the couple 'SwaSan'. Recently, the couple also won an award (Colors Golden Petal Awards) in the 'Favourite Jodi' category.
