Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt's film Udta Punjab, the drug-themed film has been making headlines for some time now. The movie has been cleared for release, but it has leaked online (two days ahead of its scheduled release in theatres).
The movie was available on torrent sites for illegal download on Wednesday (15th June) afternoon, but soon the links were removed due to a copyright complaint! Divyanka Tripathi, Anita Hassanandani, Karan Tacker, Karan Wahi, Aditi Gupta, Ragini Khanna, Rizwan Bachav, Aparna Dixit, Nivedita Basu, Krystle D'souza and Sayantani Ghosh supported Alia Bhatt and Karan Johar.
The television celebrity shared Alia, Karan and Shahid's messages and asked the fans to watch the film in theatres only.
India's Got Talent Judge, Karan Johar's tweet said, "Viruses in the #UdtaPunjab links! Anyone downloading it will have a virus attack!! What a way to combat this awful piracy! #piracydimaadi."
Alia said in her tweet, "Guys please please do not waste 2 years of hard work, blood, sweat and tears.. Please watch #UdtaPunjab in only in theatres..," while Shahid tweeted, "Blood and sweat of many in this film. It's been your battle as much as ours. Now is the time you can show it. Watch UdtaPunjab in theatres."
Karan Alia and Shahid also shared a series of tweets that said audiences to stop piracy and how the links can damage the system (computer or mobiles). The TV actors shared the tweets and echoed the same.
Divyanka shared Karan's tweet and wrote, "#UdtaPunjab, the movie that I'm looking forward to the most. Let's share our pics and #TheatreExperience on 17th June."
