Nach Baliye 8: More Romance & Drama Than Dance! Aashka-Brent & Abigail-Sanam Set The Stage On Fire!

The most awaited dance reality show Nach Baliye 8 had a grand opening yesterday (April 2). The show had new theme, new set of judges and 10 top television celebrity couples.
The episode started with celebrity couples as well as judges dancing to the tune of Nach Baliye, which was impressive. Karan Tacker then introduced the judges, who revealed how they will be judging the contestants on the dance reality show.
Since the theme of the show is 'Romance wala dance', the 10 celebrity contestants were introduced with their love stories. A few celebrities narrated how they met each other and fell in love, while a few of them revealed their love story with their dance. Check out our points for celebrity couples' performances...
Divyanka-Vivek
Divyanka-Vivek performed first. They performed for the song Gerua, from the film Dilwale. Vivek revealed how he proposed Divyanka. He also went down on his knees to propose Divyanka. No doubt, the couple looked lovely together, but their performance was average. Our Points - Romance & drama: 7 points; Dance: 3 points
Bharti-Harsh
Stand-up comedian and actress Bharti Singh and her fiancé Harsh Limbachiyaa's performed next. Both of them tried to give their best. There was more comedy and drama, and little bit of dance and romance. Our Points - Comedy & drama: 7 points & dance: 3 points
Sanam & Abigail
Sanam and Abigail gave dhamakedar performance. They performed for the song ‘Humma Humma'. The judges were also impressed with their performance. We would give full points for Sanam and Abigail's performance.
Aashka & Brent
Aashka and Brent revealed how they met each other. Brent impressed Aashka by speaking in Hindi especially by telling a few lines from Aashka's favourite actor Amitabh Bachchan's song ‘kabhi kabhi mere dil me'. The couple performed for the song ‘Bloody hell' from the film Rangoon. The judges called their performance as ‘Hot'! We will also give full points for Aashka and Brent's dance.
Dipika-Shoaib
Dipika and Shoaib performed for ‘Sau aasmanon ko' song. The couple got standing ovation for their act. Dipika was teary-eyed and recited a poem for Shoaib. Her poetry made everyone emotional. Our Points - Romance & Drama: 5 points; Dance: 5 points.
Mona-Vikrant
Monalisa and Vikrant Singh Rajpoot gave sizzling performance. They danced for ‘Laila mein Laila'. Sonakshi was impressed with Mona's performance. Sona even danced for a Bhojpuri song with Mona! While narrating their love story, Mona and Vikrant clarified that they didn't marry for money, while Mona was seen crying! Our Points - Romance & Drama: 5 points ; Dance: 5 points.
Sanaya & Mohit
Sanaya and Mohit narrated their love story with their performance - how they met each other, fell in love and got married. They danced for ‘nashe se chad gayi' and ‘Badri ki dulhaniya' (title song). Mohit Suri revealed that his dadi is fan of MoNaya. Our Points - Romance & Drama: 5 points ; Dance: 5 points.
Utkarsha & Manoj
Utkarsha and Manoj shook legs for ‘Cutie pie'. The couple got standing ovation for their energetic dance performance. The judges even shook legs with the couple. Our Points - Romance & Drama: 6 points ; Dance: 4 points.
Pritam-Amanjjot
Pritam and Amanjjot performed for the song ‘Zalima'. Sonakshi showed ‘Aww' card for their performance as the jodi looked cute together. Karan Tacker also called their two cute kids on the stage. Our Points - Romance & Drama: 6 points; Dance: 4 points.
Siddharth Jadhav & Trupti
The host of the show revealed how their breakup, reunion and romance happened on train. Siddharth even said that Trupti's parents were against their marriage, which made them to take extreme step of getting married against her parent's wish. But, now Trupti's parents have accepted him. The couple danced for a Marathi song.
Siddharth was full of energy while dancing, while Trupti was trying to match to Siddharth's steps. They got standing ovation from the judges. At the end, the couple along with their family, judges and the host danced together. Romance,Comedy & Drama: 6 points; Dance: 4 points.
Since it was the opening episode, the contestants were not given points.

We felt that Divyanka-Vivek and Bharti-Harsh's performance was average. Although Dipika-Shoiab, Sanaya-Mohit, Mona-Vikrant's performances were impressive, Aashka-Brent and Abigail-Sanam gave the best performance in the first episode itself.
Overall, we must say, the first episode of the dance reality show was more of 'romance and drama' than dance.
Although, judging the show with the first episode itself would be unfair, we can't ignore the saying, 'First impression is the best/last impression'.
