Mr. Pellikoduku

Sunil is a popular character artist, who is known for his comedy timing. He turned a lead actor with the movie Andala Ramudu in 2006 and it was Box Office hit. Except Katha Screenplay Darshakatvam Appalaraju, his later movies like Maryada Ramanna, Poola Rangadu have also done amazing business and the actor has successfully won the heart of the viewers. He has made his comeback to big screen with Mr Pellikoduku and will surely rock you.

Mr Pellikoduku is a romantic comedy film, which is the remake of hit Hindi movie Tanu Weds Manu. Sunil's brilliant performance is the main attraction in the movie. SA Rajkumar's music, Sameer Reddy's wonderful picturisation, Ali, Dharmavarapu Subramanyam and MS Narayana, Isha Chawla's glamour, good choreography of dance and action and beautiful foreign locales are its other highlights. But the film has several drawbacks when compared to the Bollywood flick.

The movie is all about an NRI, who comes to India to find a bride for himself and falls for a girl at first sight, but she declines to marry him. In Mr Pellikoduku, director Devi Prasad has done some changes from Tanu Weds Manu to suit the taste of the Telugu audience. But these aspects turn out to be the big mistakes in the Telugu version and take away the charm of the original.

The first half of Mr Pellikoduku is quite interesting with few comedy scenes, a couple of songs and a funny fight. But the movie turns boring in the second half due to some sentimental scenes, cliched dialogues and too many songs. Poor background score will also add to make the movie uninteresting. An artificial fight in the climax is very disgusting and makes you leave the theatre with a heavy heart.

Buchi Babu (Sunil) is an NRI businessman, who comes to India to marry an Indian girl. He goes to see a girl - Anjali (Isha Chawla) shortlisted by his parents (Dharmavarapu Subrahmanyam and Tulasi). He falls in love with her at first sight, but she reveals her marriage plans with her boyfriend. He reluctantly moves on to see another girl, but his heart still yearns for her. How he manages to marry her will form the rest of the story.

Sunil has given wonderful performance in the movie and he is the show man. He impresses you with his perfect comedy timing. He also wins your heart with some of his wonderful dance moves. But the director could have given more attention towards his makeup, which looks awkward in some scenes.

Isha Chawla has got good scope for her role in Mr Pellikoduku and she has managed to pull it off well. She looks beautiful and glamourous. Her chemistry with Sunil is a treat to watch on screen. Ali, Dharmavarapu Subramanyam and MS Narayana will tickle your funny bones. Vincent, LB Sriram, Ahuti Prasad, Ravi Babu, Tulasi, Archana, Usha Sri and Bhavana have also done justice to their roles.

SA Rajkumar's music is the main highlight in the technical front. He has composed some of good tunes for the film Mr Pellikoduku, but their placement in the movie is not good. His background score is also commendable. The cinematography is another big strength of the film Mr Pellikoduku. Sameer Reddy has captured some of the most beautiful locales in the song sequences, which are treat to watch on screen.

The choreography of dance sequences and Kanal Kannan's action are good in parts. Nandamuri Hari's editing could have been little better. What is the big drawback of the movie Mr Pellikoduku is screenplay and Devi Prasad could have handled it more carefully, while changing some sequences from the original.

Overall, Mr Pellikoduku is a poor remake of Tanu Weds Manu, but you can still watch and enjoy it.
