We overheard a fan saying 'who would need a screenplay, when we have Powerstar on screen', while walking out of the theatre. Ahem! Sardaar Gabbar Singh is strictly for the guys, who concur with this fan-boy.
On the whole, Sardaar Gabbar Singh will surely go well with all Pawan Kalyan fans. Right from the word go, it is Pawan’s solid screen presence and energetic performance that impresses you completely. Impressive first half and some stylish thrills are basic assets. But a weak story line, lengthy run time and a dragged out second half spoil the fun to an extent and make this film exclusively for fans only.
Pawan's one-man show. For those of you looking for him to do non-heroic comedy in khaki, this film has much stuff on platter.
Sardaar Gabbar Singh doesn’t pack the wallop of its predecessor. The original was a fairly standard action movie, elevated by a relatively lean romance and focused family story, driven by a surprisingly effective Pawan Kalyan. He is back for Sardaar, but script fails in balancing the hero’s image with a cohesive plot.
While the film’s first half is peppered with entertainment, comedy sequences and Pawan Kalyan’s quirky mannerisms, the second half gets into a serious mode with the class difference between Sardaar Gabbar Singh and Arshi turning into a bone of contention for everyone else around them. Sardaar Gabbar Singh is a film for Pawan Kalyan’s fans, directed by a fan of Pawan Kalyan, starring Pawan Kalyan.
It is a film made for fans and it may appeal to the hardcore fans of Power star. Sardaar Gabbar Singh will put the patience to test for others. This is definitely not a film that deserves all this hype and hoopla. Keep your expectations in check.
