Goa is the permanent place for the International Film Festival to be celebrated in India. People in India believe and follow the true tradition of 'Vasudhaika Kutumbakam' which means 'The entire world is like one family'. The same motto is being adopted while organizing the International Film Festivals since 1975. Goa once again is being spruced up to celebrated the 37th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) Goa 2006, for providing a world class entertainment from November 23 to December 3. This year, the event is being celebrated with participation of film celebrities around the globe, who have a high profile glamour, besides several world renowned national and international celebrities are likely to participate.
Goa Entertainment chief executive officer Nandini Palival says, 'We would provide better hosting this year than previous festivals and made several efforts in this regard.' She was here in Hyderabad and had a brief talk with the journalists. According to her prominent Bollywood artiste Shashi Kapoor would be the chief guest. IFFI-Goa 2006 showcases a wide range of critically acclaimed films of national and international fame, world premieres, film bazaars, children workshops, street animation, music concerts and open-air beach screenings for the benefit of delegates. The festival promises the public a perfect packaging of glamour, excitement and guests, with around 200 international and Indian films screened during the 11-day period. Special animation films are being screened for the benefit and entertainment of children. Mr Ramesh Neghi, secretary, Finance, Government of Goa, says 'We will ensure screening of films in more number of theatres for the benefit of audiences and film lovers.' Senior director Sagar, hero Raja of Anand-fame also participated in the press briefing.
